OUR STORY

What happens when two Texans decide to start a whole new industry in Belize, where virtually all fruits and vegetables are world-class but no export market exists?

The result is TexBel Farms. We are an environmentally conscious company set to reshape the tropical fruit beverage industry. We offer distinctive, affordable products of the highest freshness and quality across the globe.

It all started in 2012, when the Texans attended an investment conference in Belize and learned about the economics of the coconut. Lindsey Short already knew how special a place Belize was from many years of visits and had decided to build a family compound on the water in Placencia, a southern village in Belize. Alan Arsht, a life-long friend, now in New York, decided at that conference with Lindsey to build an agricultural business in Belize centered on the production of coconuts and its by-products—particularly coconut water.

It was a perfect match of skills and backgrounds—Lindsey’s extensive ranching and farming knowledge and legal skills and Alan’s financial knowledge from many years on Wall Street as an investment banker.

Still, the extra ingredient that made this possible was that both saw the vast business opportunity and embraced the risk to start and build a new business in a developing country in Central America.

THEY NEVER LOOKED BACK 2013 - Today

In 2013, Lindsey and Alan acquired the initial farm, which provided the foundation of the coconut business. A second and a third farm acquisition followed in 2014 and 2015. Now, with the help of talented local management, TexBel has over 3,000 acres of land planted in a special coconut hybrid, Persian limes, Valencia oranges, White Marsh grapefruit and other tropical fruits, including soursop.

Just like that TexBel was born.

Our Process
We are super picky. Since we are a vertically-integrated company, we can control quality throughout the process, starting with the land.
WE HARVEST ONLY THE BEST FRUIT AT THE RIGHT TIME. We never process immature or overly ripe fruit. We only process fruit at the right time, at its peak of natural taste, sweetness, acidity and quality.

From our farm to our plant, we process fruit immediately after harvest, with the best technology available, which guarantees freshness all the way to the consumer's table.

We are totally flexible to meet our current and future customers' needs, deciding together which fruits we process and which packaging we deliver them in.

Whether you are looking for products for individual consumption ready to be sold in a supermarket or for industrial products packaged in large containers, for food service (restaurants, bars or hotels) or as ingredients for other products, we adapt to your needs

Also, we can make custom formulas or even develop totally new products for our clients. And since we are independent, we don't have to rely on intermediaries to guarantee your supply at stable prices.

OUR POTENTIAL

Although TexBel local fruit sales are pretty good, we wanted to do much more with our opportunity. Not only to boost our farms but also to open greater job and development opportunities for the people of Belize.

OUR PEOPLE
We care about the land. Above all we care about the people.
Our farmers come before our business.

They are key to implementing our ethical agricultural practices, they know the land better than anyone and care for it more than anyone.

The farmers of Belize are proud of their Mayan and Spanish heritages and their skill. And we want to make sure they have everything they need to do their work with the greatest comfort and safety possible.

Caring for our land and our people is not an option. It is a must to ensure the quality of our products and the sustainability of our company and our environment.

HONEST, CLEAN - LABEL PRODUCTS ARE A PRIORITY TO US.

TexBel is investing in Belize for the long haul and is always looking for new ways to become a better corporate citizen.

Since 2013, we committed to the Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification protocol to protect the environment and improve the life quality of our farmers and everyone living in the surrounding communities.

Adhering to Global GAP has other benefits: we train local farmers in our agronomic practices. They can then sell their fruit to TexBel and benefit directly from the higher prices for sustainable crops.

To expand this virtuous cycle, and encourage us to make such a substantial investment, the Government of Belize granted us an EPZ, to produce and export tax-free and duty-free for 20+ years, which translates into more competitive prices and attractive opportunities for our clients.

We understand that our customers need reliability and quality above all and through our certifications, we ensure that our customers are receiving products made with the highest food safety standards.

A long-term investment. A good citizen of Belize.
